IMD Heatwave Alert: UP Boils As Temperature Crosses 48 Degrees In Banda, Orange Alert In Delhi | Check Forecast

Weather Update: North India continues to grapple with severe weather as the ongoing heatwave is forecast to intensify over the next five to six days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no immediate relief, with temperatures expected to remain several degrees above normal across parts of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana.

Authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions, remain cautious and closely follow official weather updates to avoid inconvenience.

Delhi Heatwave Alert

Delhi on Tuesday recorded the first heatwave day of the month, with dry winds and intense heat pushing the mercury beyond 45 degrees Celsius across several parts of the city, news agency PTI reported.

The meteorological department has issued an orange alert, warning of heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over the next few days.

Uttar Pradesh Weather Update

Uttar Pradesh's Banda district emerged as one of the worst-affected areas in the ongoing heatwave, recording a maximum temperature of 48 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. According to a report by Jagran.com, this reading positioned Banda as the hottest location not only in Asia but in the world for the day.

This marked the third time that the mercury exceeded 48 degrees Celsius in Banda. Prior to this, 48.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in May 2019 and 49 degrees Celsius in 2022. It was closely followed by Naugaon in Madhya Pradesh and Rohtak in Haryana.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is no immediate relief in sight over the next five to six days, with a heatwave alert issued for more than 60 districts across the state.

According to live global temperature rankings by AQI.in, all of the world's 100 hottest cities are in India. Among the most severely affected areas are Banda, Nowgong, Rohtak, Agra, Jhansi, Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Chandigarh, and Varanasi.
