The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested five more individuals in connection to the Pakistan-based outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) from the Patan district. The five accused have been identified as Bilal Abid Shera; Mohammad Ayub Kadiwal, alias Mohammad Khadiasan; Mohammad Shafi Mukhi, alias Shafi Chapi; Mohammad Hasan K Radia, alias Hasan Haiderpuri; and Mohammad Ayub Sumasra, alias Mohammad Khali. All were apprehended in Khadiyal village in Siddhpur taluka, the ATS said on Thursday. Probe revealed that the accused attempted to make a time bomb, Gujarat ATS said.

The arrested individuals were then produced before Judicial Magistrate RM Bhatia at Kadi in Mehsana district, who remanded them in ATS custody until July 24.
What Did The ATS Say?
The five individuals were involved in testing explosive devices, Gujarat ATS said. The arrests were linked to the alleged module after eight JeM operatives were arrested on July 3.
The Jaish-e-Mohammed has been attempting to establish sleeper cells for the Gujarat terrorist organization. After the Gujarat riots, the Indian Mujahideen conducted a series of bombings in Ahmedabad, killing around 50 people and injuring over 200.
Public Prosecutor PR Dantani said that the Gujarat ATS urged for custodial interrogation after telling the court that the apprehended individuals had allegedly attempted to make a time bomb.
The ATS officials claimed that one of the accused had "tried to make a time bomb'. He also possesses that literature. The literature and materials related to Jaish-e-Mohammed in Urdu are yet to be recovered.
Dantani said that the accused had also tried to test the bomb, but it was unsuccessful. The ATS is investigating the location from where the materials were procured, where they were hidden, and how the accused obtained jihadi books linked to JeM.
The prosecutor also claimed that the eight people arrested earlier were members of the banned Pakistan-based terror organisation from different parts of Gujarat and neighboring Madhya Pradesh. The ATS had alleged that the accused were attempting to increase their networks in Gujarat.
