One terrorist was killed and a junior officer suffered injuries during an encounter that broke out between the security forces and terrorists in the early hours of Monday in Jammu Kashmir's Kulgam district. The Indian Army official stated that the forces launched a search operation after receiving information of presence of terrorists in the Guddar forest area. They further stated that the encounter broke out after the terrorists opened firing at the security forces' positions.

"One terrorist has been killed during an anti-terror operation in the Guddar forest of Kulgam. A junior commissioned officer suffered injuries. Operation is in progress," Indian Army stated in a post on X.

"Based on specific intelligence, an encounter has started in the Guddar forest of the Kulgam. SOG of J&K Police, Army, and CRPF on the job. Further details to follow," the Kashmir Zone Police stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Apart from this, the National Investigation Agency also conducted raids at 22 locations across five states and Jammu and Kashmir in a terror conspiracy case.

Earlier on August 28, the Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC ) near Naushehra Nard in the Gurez sector of Bandipora district. Two terrorists were killed in the ensuing encounter.

"Based on intelligence provided by JKP regarding likely infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched by #IndianArmy and @JmuKmrPolice in Gurez Sector. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Troops responded with effective fire, neutralising two terrorists," Indian Army's Chinar Corps posted on X.
