In a bid to counter the mighty AAP and desperate BJP, the Congress on Wednesday announced ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana' for people in Delhi ahead of the assembly polls. Under the scheme, people will get free health insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh. Senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister made the announcement in this regard in a press conference. Gehlot said that the scheme was inspired by 'Chiranjeevi Yojana', which his government launched in Rajasthan.

"We have given a lot of coverage to the health... 'Jeevan Raksha Yojana' of the Delhi government will be similar to 'Chiranjeevi Yojana' of the Rajasthan government...I am happy that I got the opportunity to launch this scheme here...This scheme can be a game changer in Delhi," Gehlot said.

Attacking the ruling party, Gehlot said that the possibility of a Congress government forming in Delhi was continuously increasing, as people were frustrated with the Aam Aadmi Party government.

Delhi Congress unit chief Devendra Yadav said he wants to assure the people of Delhi that Congress will not make any agreement with the AAP this time, neither before nor after the elections. He said Congress was contesting the election with great strength and will definitely form the government.

The party's campaign slogan "Hogi Har Zarurat Puri, Congress Hai Zaroori" was prominently displayed during the announcement, highlighting the Congress' "promise" of ensuring essential services for all.

‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana' is the second big guarantee that the grand old party launched in the backdrop of assembly polls in Delhi. Earlier, Congress announced the ‘Pyari Didi Scheme’, aimed at providing Rs 2500 monthly to the women in Delhi. The scheme was jointly launched by Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivkumar, Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav and Congress’ women wing chief Alka Lamba.
