Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren is expected to take oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on November 26, according to sources cited by News 18. This will mark his fourth term after the JMM-Congress alliance secured 56 out of the 81 seats in vote counting on Saturday.

A delegation from the JMM is expected to meet Governor Santosh Gangwar around 4 p.m. on Sunday to formally stake their claim to form the new government.

Six MLAs from the Congress and four from the RJD are likely to join the Soren Cabinet, the aforementioned sources added. 

Top leaders from the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, and Tejashwi Yadav, are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav have also been invited to the event. 

Earlier, JMM MLAs attended a legislative party meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence camp office in Ranchi. AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir confirmed on Saturday that Hemant Soren will continue as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

The JMM won 34 seats, emerging as the largest party in the alliance. Its allies, Congress and RJD, secured 16 and 4 seats respectively, pushing the alliance past the majority mark of 41 in the 81-seat Assembly.

Despite the legal troubles, Soren remains a key figure in Jharkhand politics and his resignation from the CM post did not diminish the political clout of his party. The result of the Jharkhand Assembly Election has proved that Hemant Soren, despite his legal troubles and internal party upheavals, continues to remain a formidable force in the state's politics.
