Karnataka CM News: DK Shivakumar is likely to become Karnataka’s next Chief Minister after the formal acceptance of Siddaramaiah’s resignation from the top post, with several media reports indicating that the swearing-in ceremony could take place on June 3.

Earlier on Friday, both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar separately met senior Congress leaders in New Delhi, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. The name of the next Chief Minister is expected to be announced today following a high-profile meeting of MLAs in Bengaluru.

Shivakumar on Friday said that no decision had yet been taken regarding the formation of the new Cabinet in the state, adding that a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting had been convened for Saturday.

The CLP meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 PM today in Bengaluru and will be conducted in the presence of AICC observers KC Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala. The gathering is expected to formally endorse the next Chief Minister, after which the party is likely to finalise the swearing-in schedule.

While Shivakumar remains the frontrunner for the top post, Congress is also expected to accommodate leaders from Siddaramaiah’s camp in key ministerial positions as part of a power-sharing arrangement. Reports further suggest that Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the former chief minister’s son, could be considered for a significant role in the new government.
