Karnataka Landslides: Train services on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route faced disruption due to landslides near Sakleshpur and Alur in Karnataka on Saturday, officials said. According to the officials, the landslip occurred during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, at around 12:30 am.
The incident took place between Sakleshpur and Ballupete stations in the Mysuru Division, they informed. Five train services have been affected, leaving several passengers stranded, as per the South Western Railways. Some Bengaluru-bound passengers walked to the main road to catch buses. The railways provided food to those who remained, news agency PTI reported.

RAILWAY OFFICIALS ON THE TASK
The Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railway, Hubballi, said relief material and rescue teams were dispatched and restoration efforts were underway. Senior officials, including General Manager Arvind Srivastava, Additional General Manager K S Jain, and Principal Heads of Departments, are closely monitoring the situation, PTI said in its report.
Train services between Bengaluru and Mangaluru had only resumed on August 8, following previous landslides on July 26 that had affected the tracks between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya.
