Karnataka Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an alert for heavy rainfall in multiple districts of Karnataka, including Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Kolar, Mandya, Mysore, Ramanagara, Chamarajanagara, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada and Hassan.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru has been experiencing continuous rainfall over the past few days. The MeT department has forecast moderate rainfall accompanied by thundestorms and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 kmph.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has issued an alert warning of moderate rainfall accompanied by thundershowers and gusty winds, with chances of one or two spells of heavy rainfall.

Residents of Bengaluru are expected to witness rain and thunderstorms till October 12, with little or no chances of relief. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors, close windows and avoid outdoor activities if possible.

South Interior Karnataka Weather

The weather department has issued a yellow alert warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 kmph. According to the latest forecast by the MeT department, heavy rain is likely in several parts of South Interior Karnataka till October 16, with a yellow alert in place.

North Interior Karnataka Weather

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that parts of North Interior Karnataka are expected to witness heavy rainfall until October 10. Starting October 11, rainfall activity is likely to decrease with no weather alert in place.

However, a yellow alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms was issued for North Interior Karnataka on October 10.

Rain May Lead To Waterlogging, Disrupt Electricity

Heavy rain in multiple districts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, can lead to disruptions in daily life. The MeT department has warned of temporary disruption of electricity in some areas, minor traffic snarls, and possible uprooting of weak tree branches.

Residents are advised to stay updated with official weather updates, keep an umbrella handy and avoid outdoor activities if unnecessary.
