Karnataka Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru and multiple Karnataka districts, including Bengaluru Rural, Udupi, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Tumakuru, Udupi, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Bidar, and Uttara Kannada, till Thursday, May 14. As per the weather body, strong winds (up to 30–50 kmph) and thundershowers are expected to hit these areas. As per the IMD, there will be an early onset of the southwest monsoon in Karnataka.

When Will Monsoon Arrive In Karnataka?

“Normally, it takes four days for the monsoon to travel from Kerala to Karnataka. Hopefully, Karnataka will welcome the monsoon by May-end,” CS Patil, meteorologist, IMD Bengaluru was quoted as saying by The Times of India. According to the weather department, monsoon is likely to hit Kerala on May 27, with an error margin of three to four days.

Light to moderate rain /thundershowers with Gusty winds (50-60 kmph) likely to occur at most places over Bagalkote, Bidar, Kalburgi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir districts.

May 15: Light to moderate rain /thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalburgi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir districts.

May 16: Light to moderate rain /thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalburgi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir districts.

Light to moderate rain /thundershowers with Gusty winds (50-60 kmph) likely to occur at most places over Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Shivamogga, and Vijayanagara districts.

Bengaluru Weather

Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru witnessed heavy rain and gusty winds on Tuesday afternoon and evening. The rain led to waterlogging in multiple areas along with traffic snarls across the city. The rain however brought temporary relief from the scorching heat with temperatures dipping to 32 degrees Celsius. As per IMD, 34.2 mm of rain was recorded in the city, with 41 mm recorded in the HAL Old Airport area and 33.5 mm in Bengaluru Urban.
