Karnataka Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several districts of Karnataka are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall till October 11. The weather department stated that the coastal regions are also set to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds along with heavy rainfall. The continuous rainfall is likely to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius; however, it will also lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages in several cities. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several regions, including Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Belgaum, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Bellary, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore City, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davangere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Shivamogga, Tumkur, and Vijayanagar, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days.

Apart from heavy rainfall, these regions are also set to receive thunderstorms and gusty winds till October 11. The capital city, Bengaluru, has received 12 per cent less rainfall in comparison to the previous years. However, the city is likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall after October 15.

“The low pressure systems over west central Bay of Bengal moved over Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts. These systems did not bring rains to Bengaluru as expected,” IMD scientist CS Patil was quoted as saying by Times Now. “After October 15, the rainfall in Bengaluru might increase,” he added.
