Kashmir Weather Update: As the cold wave continues to grip the Kashmir valley, the weather department reported a sharp increase in nighttime chills across the region. Srinagar on Monday experienced the season's first and coldest sub-zero night as the minimum temperature at most places in Kashmir plummeted below the freezing point.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city’s minimum temperature plunged to - 0.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the seasonal normal.

Sub-Zero Temperatures Across Kashmir Valley

- The MeT officials stated that the minimum temperature plummeted below the freezing point at most places across the valley, with only Kokernag in South Kashmir remaining above freezing at 1.4 degrees Celsius.

- The tourist resort of Pahalgam shivered with a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Kupwara at -1.2 degrees Celsius, Qazigund at -0.9 degrees Celsius, and the Gulmarg ski resort at -0.2 degrees Celsius.

- The maximum temperature dropped slightly below normal to 16.5 degrees Celsius in Srinagar on Tuesday, followed by Pahalgam (14.6 degrees Celsius) and Gulmarg (0.8 degrees Celsius), Jagran.com reported.

- The Jammu region also saw a dip in heat, with Jammu city recording 26.2 degrees Celsius (1.4 degrees below normal) and 11.4 degrees Celsius minimum, while Banihal, Batote, Kathua, and Bhaderwah recorded maximums ranging from 18.8 to 23.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the weather department, Kashmir is expected to experience mainly dry weather until November 15, with officials predicting a continued decline in the minimum temperature during this period.
