The Vande Bharat between Katra and Srinagar was launched recently by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, finally providing a direct train route to Srinagar, enhancing connectivity to the valley.  The much-awaited Vande Bharat commenced the journey on June 7. 

This train is built to run in very cold weather, even -15°C. It crosses the world's highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge, and offers beautiful views to passengers.

Delhi To Srinagar: This is How New Vande Bharat Makes Your Journey Easy

While Srinagar doesn't have a direct rail link from Delhi yet, you can still plan a convenient train journey. The nearest major railway station is Jammu Tawi, about 270 km away. From Jammu or Katra, take a bus or hire a private taxi to reach Srinagar.

You can take any train going to Katra from Delhi and change to the newly launched Vande Bharat Express, providing you a smooth transfer for your onward journey from Katra to Srinagar.

Timings and Fare for Katra to Srinagar Vande Bharat

The Vande Bharat Express from Katra to Srinagar currently operates two services daily:

Morning Service: Departs Katra at 8:10 AM, arrives in Srinagar at 11:08 AM. Operates six days a week (excluding Tuesdays).

Afternoon Service: Departs Katra at 2:55 PM, arrives in Srinagar at 5:53 PM.

Two trains will operate daily on the Katra-Srinagar route. The Vande Bharat train will operate six days a week, with Tuesdays reserved for maintenance. Initially, the service will run between Katra and Srinagar, as Jammu Tawi station is undergoing redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
