Kerala News: Five MBBS students lost their lives on Monday night in a accident involving a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus and a car in Alappuzha. The collision claimed the lives of five young men, all of whom were pursuing MBBS studies.
The incident occurred around 10 PM near Kalarcode, according to police reports. The impact of the crash was so severe that the car was left completely wrecked. Emergency services had to break open the vehicle to rescue the occupants trapped inside.
Officials confirmed that the deceased were students at a government medical college, though their identities have not yet been released. The car was carrying seven people in total, with five tragically losing their lives. Two passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Following the collision, traffic on the road was disrupted, although the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.

In a separate incident, a 26-year-old Indian Police Service (IPS) officer lost his life in a road accident while travelling to his first posting in Hassan district, Karnataka. The officer, Harsh Vardhan, was part of the 2023 IPS batch and originally from Madhya Pradesh.
The accident occurred on Sunday evening when a tyre on the police vehicle reportedly burst near Kittane in Hassan taluk. The driver lost control, leading to a collision with a roadside house and a tree. Harsh Vardhan succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital, while the driver suffered injuries as well.
