Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Monday announced that a non-AC sleeper bus service between Bengaluru and Kozhikode will start from December 6. The initiative by the state transport corporation is the first of its kind, which will also operate via Mananthavady. The ticket price for the operation is set at Rs 950, and the rates will be higher on the weekends. KSRTC stated that online booking for the service is already available.
KSRTC informed that the bus will depart every day from the Shantinagar Bus Stand in Bengaluru at 8.45 pm and will expectedly arrive at the Kozhikode Bus Stand at 5.45 am the next morning. The bus service is dedicated to providing a non-monotonous service to the passengers and will have multiple stops in between the two destinations.
The bus will also stop at the key locations, including Mysuru Road Satellite Stand at 9.15 pm, Rajarajeshwari Nagar at 9.20 pm, and Kengeri TTMC at 9.30 pm. The bus will also reach tourism spots like Mananthavady at 3.15 am and Kalpetta at 4 am.
The bus will leave Kozhikode bus station at 9.15 pm and will arrive in Bengaluru at 5.25 am the next morning in the return journey. The service between Bengaluru and Kozhikode is expected to provide a surreal experience to the passengers during the Christmas holiday season. Karnataka RTC in recent months has announced various special services, and multiple bus services to other locations in Kerala have also been announced.
The state transport corporation is also set to start a non-AC sleeper bus service to Kottayam and other destinations, with Pallakki buses being used for these services. Chief Minister Siddaramiah last month unveiled 20 upgraded Airavat Club Class 2.0 Volvo multi-axle buses in Bengaluru. The upgraded version of the buses is 15 m long and has 51 seats arranged in a 2x2 model that provides more space between each seat. The new buses also offer more headroom for the passengers.
