Rahul Mamkootathil Anticipatory Bail: The Kerala High Court granted interim protection to expelled from expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, preventing his arrest in a case of rape and forced abortion against him. Mamkootathil’s lawyers, Advocate S Rajeev, confirmed the news of interim protection today.
As per the order given by the bench of Justice K Babhu, Rahul Mamkootathil can not be arrested until the bench hears Mamkootathil’s anticipatory bail on December 15. "Petitioner shall not be arrested during the pendency. Post on December 15, 2025," the court said.
Earlier, a sessions court in Thiruvananthapuram rejected Mamkootathil’s plea for anticipatory bail on Thursday in the case of rape and forced abortion registered against him last week.
However, the expelled Congress MLA faces one more case of sexual assault against him. The second rape case was lodged against him on Wednesday based on the complaint of a second woman, who is a resident of Bengaluru.
MLA Rahul Mamkootathil Claims Consensual Relationship
In his anticipatory bail plea filed before the Kerala High Court, absconding Congress MLA M. Mamkootathil has strongly denied the rape allegations against him, asserting that he is innocent and that custodial interrogation is not required.
The MLA has claimed that his relationship with the first complainant was completely consensual. He alleged that when differences arose between them, she filed the complaint out of spite.
Mamkootathil further stated that the woman is married but separated from her husband, and to protect her own reputation, she later denied the existence of any relationship and portrayed herself as a victim.
The MLA has been in hiding since the registration of the first rape case and has approached the High Court seeking protection from arrest.

Mamkootathil Ready To Appear Before Investigative Team But...
In his plea, Mamkootathil has said that he was prepared to explain each and every circumstance of the offences alleged against him and will also cooperate with the probe if he gets an opportunity to appear before the investigating officer without any fear of arrest.
He also accused the investigative team of trying to ‘mislead the facts’, adding that he has enough documents to prove his innocence.
