Neha Singh Rathore: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Bhojpuri folk singer Neha Singh Rathore, who is accused of posting ‘anti-national and inflammatory’ comments on social media after the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.

Justice Brijraj Singh, in a single-judge bench order, held that Rathore had failed to cooperate with the investigation despite clear directions from a division bench and the Supreme Court.

The court noted that she did not appear before the investigating officer as ordered on September 26, 2025, and her Special Leave Petition against that order was dismissed by the apex court.

The singer had argued that her posts fell under freedom of expression and that the charges of threatening national unity and sovereignty were not justified. The state counsel, however, contended that her comments, including allegations that the BJP wanted to push India into war and endanger soldiers’ lives, were used by Pakistan as anti-India propaganda at a time when the country was mourning the Pahalgam attack.

The FIR against Rathore was lodged on April 27, 2025, at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow by complainant Abhay Pratap Singh under sections related to promoting enmity, prejudicing national integration and harming India’s sovereignty.
