Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Chetan Chaudhary and his lover, Siya Goyal, allegedly masterminded the murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, who was also Siya's fiancé, in a desperate bid to stop an unwanted arranged marriage.
The FIR
The FIR, registered by the deceased's father, Vishal Devichand Agarwal, alleged that Chetan and Siya pushed his son off a cliff to his death. Investigators noted that a major point of contention leading up to the crime was a missed trip to Lohagad Fort on June 4. This cancellation reportedly left Siya highly agitated, prompting her to persistently demand that her fiancé take her there.
Now, a detailed, step-by-step timeline of the conspiracy from the day the two lovers allegedly executed the plot has come to light, NDTV reported.
A Detailed Timeline Of Murder
7:00 AM - Eliminating The Digital Footprint
Chetan kicks off his elaborate plot by abruptly disabling his mobile data, ensuring cell towers would not create a geographic GPS trail of his route to the crime scene.
8:00 AM - Setting Up A False Alibi
To trick investigators into believing he never left his stop, Chetan left his personal smartphone at his business and ordered his workers to answer all incoming calls.
Midday - Covert Movement To The Site
To handle necessary coordination on his way to Lohagad Fort, he borrowed an employee's mobile phone to cover his tracks.
2:00 AM - The Hoodie Mistake
To hide his face from security and witnesses, Chetan wore a thick winter hoodie in the sweltering 33 degrees Celsius summer heat while tailing the couple to the fort.
2:30 PM - The Pre-Arranged Signal
Upon reaching a secluded cliff near the Vinchu Kata ridge, Siya sat down as a pre-arranged visual signal. Chetan stepped out from hiding and pushed Ketan 400 feet to his death.
5:40 PM - The Return
After staying entirely off the digital grid for approximately 10 hours and 40 minutes, Chetan turned his mobile internet back on, confident that his calculated location cover-up was flawless.
The THREE Mistakes That Unravelled The Plot
The plan backfired after investigators flagged the prolonged offline timeline, traced his distinct winter attire on CCTV footage, and confirmed with callers that someone else was answering his phone, the report added.
June 18: Ketan left home on the morning of June 18, picking up Siya from Kiwale bridge on the Pune-Mumbai Highway before heading to Lohagad Fort. At 10:45 AM, Siya called her fiancé's mother, claiming Ketan had accidentally fallen into a gorge. Locals and police later found him in the gorge and rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
June 21: Suspicious of Siya's narrative, Ketan's father and relatives visited the exact spot of the fall on June 21. The family inspected the cliff and concluded that the location made an accidental slip highly improbable.
The family's suspicion grew as Siya's phone remained constantly busy following the incident. She frequently mentioned her 'friend' Chetan, leading the family to uncover the romantic relationship that sparked the conspiracy.
