2,000 Calls, 238 Chat Hours In 6 Months: How Siya-Chetan’s Phone Records Unmasked Ketan's Murder Plot

Ketan Murder Case: The investigation into the murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal shed light extensive communication between the two accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, with police claiming that their call records and digital interactions helped uncover what investigators describe as a premeditated conspiracy.

According to Pune Rural Police sources, Siya and Chetan had been in contact for nearly three years. Initially, a case of accidental death was registered, where Siya alleged that her fiancée had fallen into a gorge while taking pictures just days before their wedding. However, the cops found inconsistencies in her statements.

How Did The Suspicion Turn True?

While scanning the CCTV footage of the routes leading to the fort, they noticed a man in a hoodie travelling behind the couple. Later, the footage showed the same in the vicinity of the site of the incident. When the police discovered that it was 33 degrees Celsius, they were convinced that something was fishy about the man.

In another footage clip, we noticed Siya suddenly looking back and, at the same time, the man in the hoodie suddenly sitting down," the official said. According to police, this discovery established a possible link between the man and Goyal, leading investigators to intensify questioning. The man was later identified as Chetan Chaudhary.

The Call Records

Chetan was not visibly part of Siya's group when they reached the fort. Upon scanning the call records, the police found that Chetan and Siya had extensive conversations with each other. The phone calls confirmed the romantic link between the two.

Additionally, the police discovered that Chetan's phone was at his shop during the entire incident. Upon checking, his shop callers confirmed that the calls were received by the shop employees. Chetan took an employee's mobile phone in the fort. Chetan’s internet connection also remained switched off from 7 am to 5:40 pm, a detail that further heightened police suspicion. Investigators examined records of 2,004 calls exchanged between the duo between January and June this year. The analysis revealed that they spent a cumulative 238 hours talking to each other over the six months.

Repeated Cancellations

Ketan's uncle alleged that initially, Siya expressed doubts about the marriage and had once asked whether the wedding could be postponed by a year. Police said inquiries with Ketan’s sister Sanjana and other relatives revealed that Siya had repeatedly insisted that Ketan visit Lohagad Fort.

According to investigators, Siya had taken Ketan to Lohagad on May 31 and again wanted to visit on June 4, but his mother stopped him.Police claimed that on June 14, Siya allegedly attempted to push Ketan from the cliff, but he managed to hold onto a bush. When Ketan questioned what had happened, she allegedly raised an alarm about a snake and presented the incident as if she had saved him.

Police said the final plan was allegedly executed on June 18.

How Did He Die?

When Siya’s group reached a spot on the fort where the gorge dropped sharply, investigators alleged Chetan joined them from behind. Ketan collapsed nearly 400 feet and died at the bottom of the gorge. Siya then called Lonavala Rural Police and said her fiancee had slipped while taking photographs near the valley. She cited strong winds and described it as an accident.

Police registered an accidental death report. On June 19, rescue teams recovered Ketan’s body after a difficult operation in rugged terrain. He was declared dead at a hospital.
