Every year, a large number of devotees from Delhi, the NCR, and other parts of the country visit Khatu Shyam Dham to participate in the celebrations and seek blessings.

The Baba Khatu Shyam Mandir holds deep spiritual significance. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna granted Veer Barbareek (the grandson of Bhima) the boon of being worshiped in Kaliyug after he selflessly offered his head in the name of righteousness. Pleased by this great sacrifice, Lord Krishna declared that in the present age (Kaliyug), Barbareek would be worshiped as Shyam, his own manifestation.
