Kolkata Metro: Kolkata Metro is set to improve commuter convenience by expanding its Blue Line services starting Today, September 5 (Thursday). The addition of two new trains will raise the total number of weekday services from 288 to 290.
According to a report from the Financial Express, the new timetable includes a service that will depart from Mahanayak Uttam Kumar station at 06:55 AM heading towards Dakshineswar station. Another new train will leave Dakshineswar station at 07:54 AM towards Kavi Subhash station. This change aims to accommodate the increasing number of passengers and help reduce congestion during peak hours.

In other related news, Kolkata Metro recently celebrated a significant achievement by earning over Rs1 crore in passenger fares in a single day. On Saturday, around 6.75 lakh passengers used the metro across its three lines, generating Rs 1.01 crore in total fare income, including online recharges. The Blue Line alone carried approximately 5.75 lakh passengers, highlighting the metro's growing popularity and efficiency.
