Noida Airport Link Expressway: The much-awaited Link Expressway, connecting Noida International Airport with Haryana and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, is facing delays. Initially scheduled to open in April, the project has now been pushed back by another six to eight months. The primary reason? A decision to construct a three-kilometre elevated stretch, which has extended the completion timeline, according to Jagran.com.
Once fully operational, the expressway will allow vehicles from Faridabad and nearby areas to reach Noida Airport directly, significantly improving connectivity and reducing travel time.
Why Is the Link Expressway Delayed?
The construction of the 31-kilometre-long expressway has hit a roadblock due to last-minute changes in its alignment. Originally, the entire expressway was planned at ground level. However, the proposed route clashed with the Ballabhgarh master plan, leading to the decision to construct an elevated road for a three-kilometre stretch. This change has caused delays in the project timeline, Jagran.com reported.
Officials now estimate that the expressway will take an additional six to eight months to be fully completed. While work on the Gautam Buddh Nagar section is nearly finished, major construction is still required on the Haryana stretch.
Project Details and Cost
The Noida Airport Link Expressway is a six-lane expressway spanning 31 kilometres. It is being built at a cost of ₹2,414 crore under the supervision of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The project aims to enhance connectivity between Noida International Airport, Haryana, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, making travel more efficient.
Key Features of the Expressway
- Total Length: 31 km
- Route Distribution: 22 km in Haryana, 9 km in Gautam Buddh Nagar
- Current Status: Work in Gautam Buddh Nagar is nearly complete
- Interchange with Yamuna Expressway: The expressway has been linked to the Yamuna Expressway for seamless travel
- Airport Entrance Connectivity: A 750-metre-long road has been constructed to connect the expressway to the airport’s main entrance
- Future Benefits: Once operational, vehicles from Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, and surrounding areas will have a direct route to Noida International Airport

Why Was the Route Changed?
The Ballabhgarh master plan posed a significant challenge to the original alignment of the expressway. Since the proposed route would have divided a sector into two parts and impacted several land parcels, the Haryana government raised objections. To address these concerns, officials decided to elevate a three-kilometre section of the expressway, ensuring minimal disruption to local planning and landowners as cited in Jagran.com report.

When Will the Expressway Be Ready?
According to Dr Arunvir Singh, CEO of Noida International Airport Ltd, the new design changes mean that the expressway will require six to eight more months for completion. While some sections of the project will be opened sooner, full connectivity will take longer.
