A 24-year-old BJP employee allegedly died by suicide in the flat of BJP MLA Yogesh Shukla in Hazratganj area of Lucknow on Monday morning. The deceased, identified as Shrestha Tiwari, a resident of Barabanki Haidergarh was working in the media cell of the BJP MLA. 

Police said the victim called an acquaintance before taking the extreme step and informed him about his intention to end his life. The person whom Tiwari had called, alerted the police control room about his intention following which a police team rushed towards the place Tiwari called from. 

Upon reaching, police officials found the body of the victim hanging in flat no 804, which was allotted to the MLA Yogesh Shukla. Police have seized his mobile phone and started the investigation. Police stated that Tiwari was alone in the flat on Sunday night. No suicide note has been recovered yet and the reason for suicide is not clear so far.

The preliminary investigation suggested that the young man took his own life due to a family conflict, police said. However, the victim’s family accused his girlfriend of torturing and abusing him and lodged a complaint against her.

The deceased’s body was sent for post-mortem and an investigation is underway to find out the exact circumstances under which the youth decided to take this action.
