In a tragic incident, four people were killed after a car rammed into a stationary truck in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, the police officials said. The accident took place near Bhalwadi village of the Dhar district.
The tragic accident took place on the Indore-Ahmedabad Highway, and the car in which the deceased were travelling rammed into the truck from behind.
Ravindra Vaskel, Dhar's City Superintendent of Police (CSP) provided details about the accident, saying that the accident occurred around 7 am near Bhalwadi village on the Indore-Ahmedabad Highway, around 15 km from the district headquarters.
He added that the car crashed into the truck from behind, killing four of its occupants on the spot. The police were identifying the deceased, and further investigation was underway.
What did medical officer say?
CMHO RK Shinde said, "In a tragic accident this morning, 4 people died while coming from Jhabua to attend a wedding ceremony in Dhar... Their bodies have arrived and we are conducting a post-mortem. The bodies will be sent to the families thereafter..."
Inspector Jyoti Patel said, "Police received information between 5 and 6 AM about some dead people present in a car in the Prince Hotel. Upon reaching the spot, police found 4 deceased who had come from Jhabua to attend a wedding ceremony in Dhar... Among the dead are Prakash, Dilip, Raja and Rahul..."
12 killed in accident in Mandsaur
In a separate accident on Sunday, 12 people lost their lives after a van hit a bike and fell into a water-filled well in MP's Mandsaur district. The accident took place at Budha-Takarwat Phante around 1:15 pm when 13 members of a Keer family from Ratlam were en route to visit the Antari Mata temple in the Manasa area of Neemuch district. They were going to the temple following a wedding they attended in Mandsaur.
Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda, who quickly arrived at the scene, stated that the driver seemingly lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and fall into the well.
Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased. Moreover, CM Mohan Yadav also expressed grief over the incident and announced Rs 2 lakh ex gratia to kin of each of the victims.
