West Bengal News: Following the setback in the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee took an aggressive stance at a meeting of the party's newly elected MLAs and senior leaders in Kalighat, Kolkata, on Wednesday. Banerjee clearly stated that she would not resign from the post of chief minister, and the Governor can remove her.

TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was also present at the meeting. The two leaders discussed the party's future strategy after the election results and boosted the morale of the party workers.

Protest By Wearing Black Clothes

Banerjee made serious allegations, calling the election process an atrocity. She said that there were widespread irregularities, intimidation, and violence during the elections, and that many party workers were targeted. According to Banerjee, more than 1,500 party offices were occupied. The chief minister hinted that she and her leaders may also approach the Supreme Court against the election results. Banerjee called on MLAs to wear black clothes on the first day of the assembly as a symbol of protest. She said, "This is a dark day for us, but we must remain strong and continue the fight."

Serious Allegations Against The Election Commission Of India

Banerjee also alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were directly involved in the election process. She also questioned the role of the Bengal Police, CRPF, Chief Electoral Officer, and the Election Commission.

Absence Of 11 TMC MLAs At Mamata Meeting Triggers Speculation

Around 11 MLAs did not attend the first meeting of newly elected party MLAs, called by the party supremo, sparking speculations. The absence of approximately 11 of the 80 winning party MLAs from the party's internal meeting has fueled speculation about potential dissent and internal strife within the party. According to sources, among the newly elected members who did not attend the meeting was Byron Biswas, MLA from Sagardighi in Murshidabad district. Byron Biswas' absence from the meeting has become a topic of discussion in political circles, especially as speculation had been rife about his stance in recent days.

The names of the remaining Trinamool MLAs who were absent from the meeting are currently unknown.
