Monsoon Update: UP, Uttarakhand, And Himachal Brace For Heavy Rainfall Over Next 5 Days | Check IMD Forecast

Torrential rainfall across several states has resulted in a significant drop in temperatures, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat. The Meteorological Department has forecast continued monsoon in several parts of the country over the next 7 days. Consequently, the IMD has issued an alert for rainfall ranging from light to heavy across 17 states on Monday .

Delhi Weather: IMD said that Delhi is expected to receive light to medium rainfall, accompanied by the possibility of thunderstorms on Monday. As per the weather department, a minimum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius was recorded in the national capital on Sunday, marking the warmest July night in the past five years.

UP Weather Forecast: The Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rainfall and thundershowers across Uttar Pradesh over the next 24 hours. According to the IMD's forecast, rainfall activity will continue at several locations in both Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh from July 20 to 25. Thunderstorms and lightning strikes are likely between July 20 and 22, while an alert for heavy rain has been issued for several parts of the state from July 23 to 25.

Heavy Rain Alert for Uttarakhand (July 20): Most parts of Uttarakhand Continuous rainfall has affected most parts of Uttarakhand, prompting a heavy rain alert for July 20. The weather department has issued a warning for heavy to extremely heavy rain in several parts of the state, starting Sunday and continuing for the next few days. An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for the districts of Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, and Bageshwar, while a ‘Yellow Alert’ is in effect for Chamoli, Almora, and Pithoragarh districts.

Himachal Pradesh (July 20–21): Authorities in Himachal Pradesh have issued an alert after the Shimla Meteorological Centre forecast very heavy rainfall at isolated places across four to five districts over the next two days. The weather office has issued a 'Red Alert' for Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur districts for Monday (July 20) and for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Sirmaur districts for Tuesday (July 21).

West Bengal: In West Bengal, the Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in the northern districts over the next two days and issued warnings regarding landslides in hilly areas and flash floods in low-lying regions. The weather department said extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts, while other sub-Himalayan districts are expected to receive very heavy rainfall.

The IMD has issued an alert for heavy and very heavy rainfall in several areas for the next few days. Heavy rainfall is likely to take place in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in eastern and northeastern India.

Jammu and Kashmir: The Meteorological Department has forecast moderate to widespread rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir from July 20 to 23. According to the IMD, rain is likely in several districts—including Srinagar, Jammu, Baramulla, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Budgam, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, and Samba—during this period. An alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds at several locations between July 20 and 22.

Rajasthan: According to the IMD, rainfall is likely at several places in eastern and western Rajasthan between July 20 and 25. Isolated heavy rainfall may occur in eastern Rajasthan from July 20 to 25 and in western Rajasthan from July 21 to 24. Warnings have also been issued for thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds during this period.

Temperatures in Different Cities

Delhi expected a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius on July 20.

Mumbai recorded a high of 28 degrees Celsius and a low of 27 degrees Celsius.

Chennai experienced the highest temperature on the list, reaching a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius.

Kolkata saw temperatures ranging from a maximum of 31 degrees Celsius to a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius.

Lucknow had a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius.

Patna shared the same forecast as Delhi and Lucknow, with a high of 29 degrees Celsius and a low of 27 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Ranchi fell to a low of 23 degrees Celsius after reaching a high of 28 degrees Celsius.

Bhopal expected a high of 28 degrees Celsius and a low of 24 degrees Celsius.

Jaipur saw the temperature hit a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and drop to a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius.

Shimla enjoyed cooler weather, with a maximum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius.
