Mother’s Day Horror: UP Man Shoots Dead Mother, Younger Brother Over Property Dispute

A Mother’s Day celebration turned into horror after a man allegedly shot dead his own mother and younger brother during a dispute over ancestral property. The accused, identified as Rajkishore Gupta, is currently on the run, police said.

The incident came to light after residents heard loud gunshots echo through the area earlier in the day. Initially assuming it was firecrackers or some disturbance, locals stepped out of their homes, only to realise the seriousness of the situation once police arrived at the scene.

However, it was not Gupta’s mother or younger brother who had sold the property, but his father. According to NDTV, Gupta was enraged over not being consulted in the sale of the ancestral land and confronted his family members at their home.

What began as a heated argument soon turned violent. In a fit of rage, Gupta allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot his mother and younger brother. Both victims, covered in blood, were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

"The forensic team thoroughly checked the crime scene and collected evidence. It appears that the accused's father sold his ancestral land, which the accused had opposed. This disagreement led to the incident," the police officer said.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem, while police have launched a search operation to arrest the accused. Officials said four teams have been formed to trace Gupta, who fled after the killings.
