MP: Mob Torches Vehicles After Two Killed In Truck-Bike Collision In Singrauli; Cop Injured, Probe On

MP News: Massive violence erupted in Madhya Pradesh's Singrauli on Friday after two locals were killed after a coal-loaded truck overturned onto their motorcycle. The accident led to an outrage from the locals who set fire to at least 11 buses and trucks in the nearby areas.

The police informed that the accident took place Amilia Ghati under the Mada police station limits around 3 pm on Friday. Superintendent of Police Manish Khatri said that a dumper associated with the Adani Group's mines overturned on a motorcycle, adding that both of the people present on the bike died on the spot. He further stated that the dumper taking the coal from the Gajra Bahra yard when the accident occurred.

While providing details, he said that the locals protested in several areas of the district, including Suhera, Gada Khad and Amilia Ghati. The angry locals torched several vehicles present in these regions.

He said that the protestors even tried to enter the factory area, but the police dispersed them. The two deceased in the accident are identified as Ramlalu Yadav and Ramsagar Prajapati. Khatri assured that the situation is under control, adding that legal action will be taken into the case.

“Following the accident, there was a law and order situation in the area as mob torched several vehicles. The police force reached the spot and brought the situation under control,” Khatri was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI. “First we are trying to complete all the legal obligations regarding the accident and the following law and order situation,” SP Khatri added.

The police arrived at the protest site as soon as the violence begun and tried pacifying the mob, however, one of the policemen got injured in the violent protest. SP Khatri confirmed that a Station House Officer (SHO) got injured in the violent uproar.
