Mumbai's suburban rail passengers are likely to face major inconvenience on Sunday as both Western Railway and Central Railway have announced multiple maintenance blocks, leading to the cancellation and diversion of several local train services across key routes.

Western Railway Announces Harbour Line Jumbo Block

Western Railway will carry out a Jumbo Block on the Harbour Line section between Bandra and Goregaon from 10:30 am to 3 pm. Due to the maintenance work, all Harbour Line services operating between CSMT and Bandra as well as CSMT/Panvel and Goregaon, will remain cancelled during the block period.

Several slow local services running between Churchgate and Goregaon will also be affected. Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek said that the complete list of cancelled services would be available with Station Masters across the suburban network.

Midnight Block On Central Railway Main Line

Apart from the daytime disruptions, Central Railway has also scheduled a special overnight mega block linked to the ongoing construction of the Sion Road Over Bridge.

The block will be carried out on the fast lines between Byculla and Vidyavihar from 12:45 am to 3:45 am on the intervening night of June 13 and June 14.

As a result, suburban train services between CSMT and Kurla will remain unavailable from 12:10 am to 4:10 am.

Harbour Line Services To Remain Suspended For Several Hours

Central Railway will also undertake a separate mega block on the Harbour Line between CSMT, Chunabhatti and Bandra during the day.

  • DOWN line block: 11:40 am to 4:40 pm
  • UP line block: 11:10 am to 4:10 pm

During this period, trains operating between CSMT and destinations such as Vashi, Belapur, Panvel, Bandra and Goregaon will remain suspended for several hours.

Special Trains And Alternate Travel Arrangements

For the convenience of commuters, Central Railway will run special local services between Panvel and Kurla at an approximate frequency of 20 minutes, during the block period. Passengers boarding on the Harbour Line would also be allowed to travel on the Main Line and Western Railway net from 10 am to 6 pm.

Central Railway clarified that on Sunday, there will be no daytime mega block on the Main line section between CSMT and Kalyan. Commuters have been asked to confirm updated train status and the list of cancelled trains at their nearest station.
