Bypoll Results 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strengthened its presence in West Bengal by winning both Nandigram and Rejinagar, and Assam, while actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) made significant gains in Tamil Nadu by securing Dharapuram and maintaining a strong lead in Madurantakam. Meanwhile, the ruling party, AINRC, retained its seat in Puducherry.
West Bengal: BJP Continues Its Dominance
- Nandigram: BJP candidate Hasi Rani Rath defeated Congress rival Milan Pradhan by a margin of 1,22,753 votes. Rath polled 1,64,427 votes compared to Pradhan's 41,674. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari represented Nandigram for three consecutive terms before breaking away from the TMC to join the BJP, later taking over as chief minister of Bengal.
- Rejinagar: BJP candidate Shankharavh Sarkar won the Muslim-majority seat by over 75,000 votes. Sarkar received 1,29,914 votes, while Golam Nabi Azad of the Aam Janta Unnayan Party got 54,098 votes.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the minority community found a "friend in the BJP," adding that the party received roughly 60 per cent of the Muslim vote in Rejinagar and 80 per cent in Nandigram.
Speaking to news agency ANI, BJP's Rath said, ""The record mandate is a result of Suvendu Adhikari being a humanitarian CM. Under the former CM Mamata Banerjee, our workers were oppressed and not allowed to vote, but that is not the case anymore...Nandigram was the most unpeaceful...democracy has been re-established here under CM Suvendu Adhikari. There has been no bloodshed in this election this time; bombs were not hurled, guns were not fired."

Tamil Nadu: Vijay's TVK Expands Its Footprint
Actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) delivered a strong performance by winning Dharapuram and establishing a strong lead in Madurantakam.
- Dharapuram: TVK candidate Sathyabama P defeated DMK's S Suganya by 9,471 votes. Sathyabama received 66,841 votes, while Suganya got 56,370 votes.
- Madurantakam: TVK candidate K. Maragatham Kumaravel is maintaining a lead of over 20,000 votes. She has 72,354 votes against DMK candidate I Paranthamen's 52,346 votes.
Both seats were won by the AIADMK in the previous assembly elections.

Assam and Puducherry: Ruling Parties Hold Ground
Assam (Nagaon Lok Sabha): BJP candidate Devasish Sharma has built a lead 1,66,134 votes over AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal as counting continued. Sharma received 6,87,110 votes against Ajmal's 5,14,965, while Congress candidate Sibamoni Bora stayed in third place with 1,22,085 votes.
Puducherry (Thattanchavady): The All India NR Congress (AINRC) kept its seat. AINRC candidate Ashok Anand beat Congress rival E. Vinayagam by 8,482 votes.
