Thane: A Gujarat man allegedly died by suicide after jumping from a cliff in Maharashtra, reportedly due to a matrimonial dispute. In a 13-minute video that he recorded, Vishwaraj Gohil, the deceased, stated that he was harassed by the family members of his wife and sought changes in laws governing such cases. Gohil, who worked as a postal employee, jumped into 1,700-foot-deep gorge from the Konkankada cliff at Harishchandragad.
Gohil Alleges Torture
In his video, Gohil alleged that he was being tortured by his in-laws, adding that even his family members were wrongly framed in the domestic violence case, reported the Times of India. However, his claims were not independently verified by Jagran. As per the available information, he got married earlier this year, but a dispute emerged within months.
"Today, I am going to jump into this valley and end my life," Gohil said in the beginning of the video. "When you can no longer see any hope in life, your inner self breaks. We say that marriage is a sacred relationship that is meant to be sustained for many lifetimes. All this sounds good when spoken and written. In modern times, when two people's views, natures and habits do not match and conflicts arise, they get divorced," he added.

Appeared In Court On Oct 9
As per the reports, his wife submitted an application to local police alleging domestic violence, leading to a probe. Gohil had appeared in court earlier on October 9 but was distressed due to the dispute. He reportedly died by suicide on October 12, sending shockwaves among the family members.
His body was tracked and recovered after hours of efforts due to the depth of the valley. While providing details, Shitalkumar Naik, assistant police inspector at Tokawade police station, stated that action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
"We have registered an ADR in the case. Further action will be taken based on the statements of family members and the findings of the investigation, including an examination of the video recorded by the deceased before his death," Naik was quoted as saying by TOI.
