Kutch Rains: Amid relentless rainfall in Gujarat’s Kutch, a red was issued for the district on Tuesday. The place recorded six consecutive hours of downpour, leaving several areas inundated. According to data from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), the highest rainfall in Gujarat was recorded in Kutch's Mandvi taluka, where 6.97 inches (approximately 177 mm) of torrential rain fell in just six hours.

Mandvi Received Continuous Rain For 6 Hours

Mandvi Tehsil recorded 1.22 inches (31 mm) of rainfall between 6 am and 8 am. Following this, the area received 5 inches (127 mm) of rain for the next two hours. An additional 0.75 inches (19 mm) of rain was recorded between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, bringing the total rainfall to 6.97 inches (177 mm). This heavy rainfall caused waterlogging in Mandvi city and low-lying areas.

Heavy rainfall in Mundra, Bhuj, Abdasa, and Nakhatrana

Surrounding areas such as the Mundra tehsil received 1.57 inches (40 mm) of rain, while the district headquarters, Bhuj, recorded 1.26 inches (32 mm). Additionally, 1.06 inches (27 mm) of rainfall was recorded in Abdasa tehsil and 1.02 inches (26 mm) in Nakhatrana tehsil.

Rainfall data for all talukas in Kutch district (from 06:00 AM to 12:00 PM):

Mandvi recorded 6.97 inches (5 inches of rainfall recorded between 08:00 AM and 10:00 AM alone)

Meanwhile, Mundra received 1.57 inches of rainfall within six hours on Tuesday.

Bhuj recorded a rainfall of 1.26 inches between 6 am to 12 pm in Gujarat.

Abdasa received 1.06 inches of downpour between the six-hour period on Tuesday.

Nakhatrana received 1.02 inches of rainfall on Tuesday, ravaging parts of the area.

Lakhpat: 0.79 inches (20 mm) of rainfall between 6 am to 12 pm, bringing daily commute to a standstill.

Gandhidham, on the other hand, recorded 0.63 inches (16 mm) of rainfall.

Anjar received 0.55 inches (14 mm) of downpour amid the torrential weather.

How The Weather Was On Monday

On Monday, Kutch was drenched in rain, ravaging parts of the city. Heavy rainfall lashed multiple regions yesterday, with Anjar recording the highest precipitation at 7.24 inches.

Gandhidham and Bhachau also witnessed substantial downpours, logging 4.61 inches and 4.41 inches, respectively, followed by Mundra with 3.54 inches and Bhuj with 3.31 inches. Meanwhile, Lakhpat received 3 inches of rain, while Rapar recorded 2.36 inches and Mandvi-Abadasa saw 2 inches of rainfall.

Farmers delighted by deluge

The torrential weather in Kutch district has led to a significant inflow of water into the region's reservoirs and check dams. Standing crops such as groundnut, castor, guar, and sesame have received a new lease of life from this rain, bringing joy to local farmers.

IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert
Dwarka, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath and Diu until 1 pm, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rain.

An orange alert has been issued for Rajkot, Morbi and Amreli, while other districts remain under a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall.
