Gurugram Hit-And-Run Case: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Gurugram hit-and-run found that all four persons in the car had been partying and drinking through the night before the incident. India Today, quoting sources, reported that key accused Kalyan Bainsla, his cousin and two friends drank at a night party hours before the gym owner grazed his car with biker Shivani Chauhan, alias Siya, on the Golf Course Road on Sunday.
The prob officials have also found that Bainsla had an altercation with Sia near the Sector 53 Metro station, after which he started chasing her bike, they said, adding that Bainsla was instigated by his cousin, Lavnish, to chase her.
Bainsla, Cousin In 2 Days' Police Remand
Earlier on Wednesday, a city court sent Bainsla and his cousin to two days of police remand. The police had sought a two-day remand to recreate the crime scene, a request the court of Nidhi Beniwal granted. The next hearing in the matter has been scheduled for September 18.
Gurugram Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj also announced the formation of a special investigation team, or SIT, to investigate the case.
What Happened On Gurugram Road on Sunday
The gym owner rammed his car into biker Siya on the Golf Course Road, coming at speed from behind. The contact knocked Siya off and sent her skidding down the road in a life-threatening situation. Bainsla was driving a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Chauhan was riding an Aprilia RS 457, when the incident happened. The police have impounded the car, registered in the name of an acquaintance. Addressing the media on Tuesday, Gurugram DCP (East) Sandeep Kumar said the victim claimed that Bainsla also hurled a slur at her before the incident and tried to kill her.
At the hearing, Bainsla's counsel Lalit Bindal argued that his client had already been in police custody for 24 hours, during which time the scene could have been recreated.
Bainsla and Lovneesh, aged 33 and 34, were nabbed from Rajgarh in Rajasthan, a short distance from Gurugram, on Tuesday. Chauhan said Bainsla's arrest was not enough and demanded strict action against him and others who were allegedly in the car at the time of the incident.
On Tuesday, after his arrest, Bainsla tried to escape custody on the pretext of urinating, but fell and got hurt, police said. He was given first aid at a hospital.
