A fresh CCTV video has emerged in the IIT Bombay student suicide case involving 22-year-old Sahil Wakode, who was accused of using a mobile phone and ChatGPT during a mid-semester examination last Friday.

In the CCTV footage, Wakode can be seen being taken aside during the exam by an invigilator, who is reportedly Professor Suryanarayana Doolla. However, Dainik Jagran has not independently verified the authenticity of the video.
The footage reportedly shows Wakode, wearing a black T-shirt, sitting at a front desk in a classroom full of students during an examination, when an invigilator approaches him, reportedly Professor Suryanarayana Doolla. The footage shows Wakode briefly getting up from the bench, sitting back down, and then allegedly handing his mobile phone to the teacher.
They then have a brief conversation, after which Wakode is seen packing his belongings and leaving the examination hall. A few hours later, 22-year-old student Sahil Wakode was found hanging in his hostel room.
IIT Bombay expressed grief over the student's death and later stated that he was caught using a mobile phone during an exam earlier in the day. The institute said he had uploaded the question paper to ChatGPT to get answers, but no disciplinary action was taken against him.
Sahil Ravindra Wakode was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room in Hostel No. 4 on the Powai campus on September 18 evening, hours after the alleged cheating incident during his mid-semester examination.
The student's parents have alleged that Wakode was harassed at the institute and had told them about caste discrimination. His father, Ravindra Wakode, and mother, Sonali have also demanded the arrest of Professor Suryanarayan Dula, whom they accuse of discriminating against their son.
Meanwhile, Professor Suryanarayana Doolla, who has been accused in connection with Wakode's death, was sent on leave on Wednesday to facilitate an impartial probe into the case.
Based on the complaint of Sahil Wakode's father, a case of abetment to suicide was registered against several people. The Mumbai Crime Branch is currently investigating the incident.
