As violent protests rocked Lovely Professional University for the past 48 hours, videos have circulated showing people stealing food, gadgets such as PS5 and other items from Uni mall inside the campus. This follows “rumours” that a student was allegedly raped within the campus and later died by suicide.

Several videos circulated on social media, showing students breaking into the university’s mall, picking up shoes in paper bags, with some saying: “Free mein shopping kar rahe (We’re shopping for free)".

A third video showed a group of people taking high-end electronic devices, including laptops, from the mall amid the violent clashes in the campus.Another viral clip captured a person saying: “Bhai, PS 5 le aaye hain (Brother, we have brought PS 5)".
What Happened In LPU
On Saturday night, violent protests erupted in LPU after unverified rumours claimed a female student in the university’s Girls Hostel 3 was allegedly sexually assaulted by a construction worker. The matter further intensified when some social media posts said that the student either died by suicide or was sent back by the administration to conceal the issue.
Protestors vandalised parts of the university building, attacked police vehicles, and blocked NH-44.According to police, they attacked cops after they were asked to clear the blockade on Sunday evening. Several policemen were injured in the clashes.
Later, videos emerged with the hostel students claiming they were instructed to record the video and say the statements. The females alleged that no such incident has occured with anyone.
