Jagran correspondent, Baldirai/Sultanpur: In a tragic accident, an ambulance carrying the body of martyred Subedar Major Satyawan from Chandigarh to Deoria collided with an unknown vehicle on the Purvanchal Expressway on Sunday morning, leaving four people, including the martyr's son, dead

The collision took place at kilometre 79.6 in the Haliapur police station area. Following the accident, police took the bodies into custody and initiated necessary legal proceedings.

According to the police, the accident took place at around 8:15 am, when ambulance number T0626HR7553BJ was transporting the body of martyr Subedar Major Satyawan, a resident of Gaila Dudhila, Rudrapur police station, Deoria district, from Chandigarh to his native village.

His son Gaurav Singh, brother Rajan Chaudhary, nephew Ram Samjhu Singh, and driver Jaspal were inside the ambulance when it crashed into a stationary truck on the expressway.

Two family members died during treatment

Gaurav Singh and the driver, Jaspal, died on the spot while Rajan Chaudhary and Ram Samjha Singh were rushed to Pithala Kumarganj Hospital in serious condition. They both succumbed to their injuries during the treatment.

The police said that they have informed the families of the deceased about the accident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and will be handed over to the family after the procedure. Meanwhile, the body of martyred Subedar Major Satyawan has been preserved with respect at the Haliyapur police station.

CM Yogi expresses grief

The police have launched a search for the unidentified vehicle and initiated necessary action regarding the accident. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the accident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

The UP CM also directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and expedite relief and rescue operations.
