Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on Sunday (Sept 14) as part of the second leg of his Northeast tour. During the visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for infrastructure and industrial projects worth over Rs 18,530 crore in the state.
List Of Projects To Be Inaugurated By PM Modi Today
1. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of Darrang Medical College & Hospital, GNM School, and BSc Nursing College in Darrang to strengthen medical education and healthcare delivery.
2. Foundation stone of the Guwahati Ring Road Project to enhance urban mobility, decongest traffic, and improve connectivity in and around the capital city.
3. Foundation stone of the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over River Brahmaputra to improve connectivity and promote socio-economic development in the region.
4. Inauguration of Assam Bio-ethanol Private Limited's Numaligarh Refinery Plant at Golaghat at around 1:45 PM to promote clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
5. Foundation stone of the Polypropylene Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) at 2:30 PM to boost Assam’s petrochemical sector, generate employment, and contribute to overall socio-economic growth.
Five States Three-Day Tour
The visit is part of his three-day tour covering five states, Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar, during which he is inaugurating and laying foundation stones of projects worth over Rs 71,000 crore to strengthen infrastructure in India’s eastern and northeastern regions.
PM Modi’s West Bengal And Bihar Visit On Monday
On 15 September, the Prime Minister will visit West Bengal to inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders' Conference-2025 in Kolkata at around 9:30 AM. Later, he will travel to Bihar to inaugurate the new terminal building of Purnea airport at around 2:45 PM. He will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around Rs 36,000 crore in Purnea and address the gathering. Additionally, he will launch the National Makhana Board in Bihar, where elections are scheduled later this year.
PM Modi Manipur Visit
On Saturday, after concluding his first visit to Manipur since the 2023 ethnic violence that left over 260 people dead and communities divided, PM Modi reached Guwahati to attend the centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika.
Striking a note of reconciliation, he stressed that peace was essential for development and appealed to people to shun violence, saying, “Any form of violence in Manipur is unfortunate. It is an injustice towards our forefathers and also our future generations.”
During the visit, he also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 8,500 crore in the state.
