Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Update: The central government has launched the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY 2.0) to provide financial assistance for housing in urban areas. The scheme aims to benefit one crore urban poor and middle-class families across India over the next five years, enabling them to construct, purchase or rent affordable housing.

Approved by the Union Cabinet on August 9, 2024, PMAY 2.0 focuses on building one lakh new homes, with beneficiaries receiving a financial subsidy upto Rs 2.50 lakh. The central assistance of Rs 2.50 lakh crore will be provided under the Scheme. The scheme, part of the government's flagship housing program, ensures all-weather ‘pucca’ houses for eligible urban residents. 

PMAY 2.0 includes the following components:

  • Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC)

  • Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP)

  • Affordable Rental Housing (ARH)

  • Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS)

PMAY 2.0 Documents Required  

To apply for PMAY 2.0, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria and submit the following documents:

  • Aadhaar details of the applicant and family members

  • Active Aadhaar-linked bank account

  • Income certificate

  • Caste certificate

  • Land ownership documents (if building on owned land)

PMAY 2.0 Scheme: How to Apply For Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Online 

  1. Visit the Portal: Go to the official website at pmay-urban.gov.in.

  2. Click on Apply: Select the ‘Apply for PMAY-U 2.0’ option in the application section.

  3. Read Guidelines: Review the instructions and eligibility criteria.

  4. Enter Details: Provide personal details, including annual income and Aadhaar Card information.

  5. Validate Aadhaar: Verify your Aadhaar details.

  6. Fill out the Form: Enter your address, income proof and other relevant information.

  7. Submit the Form: Double-check the details and apply.

Applicants can monitor their application status on the portal. Early submission is recommended to secure benefits under this scheme.
