Rohit Kumar, Chandigarh: With just a few months remaining in the Punjab Assembly election, the internal conflict of Congress has resurfaced, with many criticising party state chief Amrinder Raja Warring. The party leaders gathered at the residence of former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi for the second consecutive day. As per the reports, the leaders raised questions on the working style of party leadership, especially Raja Warring.
Leaders Criticise Raja Warring
While openly criticising Warring, Congress leader Tarsem Singh claimed that Warring lacks leadership qualities, adding that people of Punjab do not support him. "Congress cannot form a government under Raja Warring's leadership because the public does not support him. The public wanted a replacement for the Punjab Congress president. People want Charanjit Singh Channi as the next Chief Minister of Punjab," Singh was quoted as saying by Jagran.
Along with raising questions on current leadership, the party leaders also demanded to name Channi as the party chief ahead of the assembly polls.
Manish Tewari's Cryptic Post
Earlier on Thursday, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), party senior leader Manish Tewari expressed displeasure after being neglected from the core team of the party. "Being skilled is itself a big flaw... I wish I had a way to cure people's insecurities!" Tewari said in his post. "The Congress has given me a lot in the past 45 years, and I too have devoted my life to the service of the party. Who can avoid destiny... Whatever has to happen, will happen," he added.
While some reports suggested that Tewari was not included as he is currently the MP from Chandigarh, the supporters stated that the capital city of Punjab should not be considered outside of the state. Earlier in 2022, the party received a humiliating defeat in the assembly polls, mainly due to the internal rifts.
