In a relief for the people of Purvanchal, Indian Railways has decided to start operation of weekly express trains between Gorakhpur and Ranchi. The train services will start regularly from November 2 and will provide ease for the people traveling to Patliputra, Patna, Jasidih (Debghar), Dhanbad, and Ranchi. 

The railway administration has decided the date, route, and timetable of the train after receiving the official notification from the Ministry of Railways. This train will have 22 coaches, including 4 ordinary second class, 6 sleeper class, 7 air-conditioned third class, one air-conditioned first cum second class, and two air-conditioned second class.

Pankaj Kumar Singh, Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railways, informed that the regular operation of the 18629/18630 Gorakhpur-Ranchi-Gorakhpur Weekly Express will start from Ranchi on every Friday from November 1 and from Gorakhpur on every Saturday from November 2. 

Sanjay Seth, Union Minister of State for Defence, on October 15 inaugurated the new weekly express train from Ranchi. In a video conference, Seth stated that after extending the route of the Gorakhpur-Hatia Maurya Express to Sambalpur, the Railways decided to operate a new weekly train from Gorakhpur to Ranchi.

People in thousands travel from the Purvanchal region to Jharkhand on a daily basis, and there were demands of a weekly train after the extension of the route of the Maurya Express.

18629 Ranchi-Gorakhpur Weekly Express will depart from Ranchi at 4:50 pm. This train will reach Gorakhpur at 11:30 am on the second day via Muri, Bokoro, Dhanbad, Chittaranjan, Jamtara, Jasidih, Patna, Patliputra, and Chapra.

18630 Gorakhpur-Ranchi weekly train will leave from Gorakhpur at 3:30 pm. This train will leave Deoria at 4:40 pm and Bhatni at 5:00 pm and will reach Ranchi at 9:25 am on the next day via Siwan, Chhapra, Patliputra, Patna, Jasidih, and Dhanbad.
