As many as 35 persons, including 12 children, were killed after a massive fire engulfed a gaming zone in Gujarat’s Rajkot. The people had gathered at TRP gaming arena to enjoy their summer holidays, news agency PTI reported. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel constituted a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident.   

Authorities are using DNA sampling technique to identify the charred bodies of the victims. Some people are still missing, and the bodies of many have also been identified. When the pictures of the victims were released, their relatives broke down.

People Missing After Fire At Gaming Zone In Rajkot:

Authorities released names of people who have been missing since devastating fire at TRP gaming zone. They are: Jignesh Gadvi, Nirav Vekariya, Satyapal Singh Jadeja, Jay Goreya, Surpal Singh Jadeja, Shatrughan Singh Chudasama, Namdeep Singh Jadeja, Jayant Ghoreya, Omdev Singh Gohil, Ashaben Kathad, Himanshu Parmar, Vivek Dashhara, Khushaliben Dusara, Smiley, Trisha Modashia, Veerendra Singh Jadeja, Devshreeba Jadeja, Rajbha Chauhan, Dharm Singh Jadeja, Akshay Dholariya-Khyati Savaliya.

According to eyewitnesses, many people, including children, were playing in the game zone located on Nana Mava Road when this incident took place. Earlier, Gujarat's Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi took stock of the area on Sunday morning and reported that after this unfortunate incident, one person is still missing. He said that finding the missing person is a priority.

A CCTV footage of the incident surfaced, where the blaze seems to have initiated during welding work at the site. The 40-second video posted by the news agency IANS reveals the rapid spread of fire due to highly inflammable materials like fuel, tyres, fibreglass shades, and thermocol sheet partitions kept at the site.

The Rajkot police confirmed that the gaming zone lacked the necessary fire safety clearance from the municipal corporation.
