RG Kar Rape And Murder Case: A day after the Sealdah Court in Kolkata sent the prime accused in the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee PG doctor, Sanjay Roy, to 14-day judicial custody, a CCTV footage from the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has gone viral on social media platforms. The CCTV footage shows Roy walking in the corridor of the fourth floor of the hospital building, where the seminar hall (crime scene) is situated.

The CCTV footage showed Sanjay Roy entering the hospital at around 1 am with a Bluetooth earphone coiled around his neck. Roy, wearing a t-shirt and jeans, is seen walking along the corridor near the seminar hall, where the body of the 31-year-old PG trainee doctor was found on the morning of August 9. While entering the hospital, Roy was seen with a helmet in his hand, notably a part of Kolkata Police's uniform issued to personnel only.

According to a report by IANS, a Bluetooth earphone was found near the body of the victim during the initial probe, which reportedly led to the arrest of Sanjay Roy. When investigators showed him CCTV footage and connected the Bluetooth device to his phone, Sanjay Roy admitted to the crime, NDTV reported citing unnamed sources.

Further, Roy was purportedly seen coming out of the seminar room forty minutes after he was seen entering through the corridor. It is suspected that this was the time when he committed the heinous crime. As per the police record, the 31-year-old victim went to the seminar hall at around 1 am on August 9, to rest. A junior doctor spoke to her at 2:30 am at the seminar hall. She was found dead in the morning.

Meanwhile, a city court in Kolkata on Friday allowed the CBI to conduct a polygraph test on Sanjay Roy, a day after the same court approved the CBI's plea to conduct the lie detector test on the controversial former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, and five others in connection with the case.

Of these total seven persons, one is a close associate of Roy, a civic volunteer, while the remaining four are post-graduate medical students of RG Kar who were on duty at the hospital on the intervening night of August 8-9.

On Monday, the CBI approached the court seeking permission to conduct a polygraph test on Roy,  the only person arrested in the case so far. Roy's lie detector test became crucial because his statements during the CBI's interrogation were inconsistent.

While the local media reported that Roy has admitted to the crime, many people are saying the rape and murder couldn't have been the handiwork of a single person. Roy, who was initially arrested by the Kolkata Police, was handed over to the CBI after the Calcutta High Court directed the central agency to take over the investigation from the city police.
