In view of the Winter Carnival Shimla-2025, Christmas, and New Year's Eve, the district administration has implemented a special plan to maintain law and order in the capital city. Under this scheme, Shimla city has been divided into five sectors. ADM (Law and Order) Pankaj Sharma has been given the overall charge of all sectors.
Officers Appointed For Each Sector
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap issued the relevant office orders on Tuesday, appointing one officer for each of the five sectors. The Deputy Commissioner stated that since the influx of tourists and locals increases significantly during Christmas and New Year's Eve, this special plan has been devised to ensure safety and order.
Plan Effective From Dec 24 To Jan 2
According to the orders, a specific officer has been assigned to each sector, supported by a deployed police team. The Senior Superintendent of Police has already arranged the necessary deployments. The administration’s priority is to provide better law and order for tourists while ensuring smooth traffic flow. The plan will remain in effect from December 24, 2025 to January 2, 2026.
Traffic Advisory And Safety Measures
The Deputy Commissioner announced that ambulances will be deployed at Shimla's entry points. He appealed to the general public and tourists to adhere to the administration's plan and follow traffic rules. He urged drivers to drive within speed limits, avoid overtaking, and strictly refrain from drunk driving.
Sector-Wise Deployment Details
Sector 1: Includes Shoghi and surrounding areas. Naib Tehsildar (Shimla Urban) Bhishma Singh Kanwar has been assigned charge of this sector.
Sector 2: Includes Mall Road, The Ridge, Scandal Point, Church, Lakkar Bazaar, Regal Cinema, Lift, CTO, Auckland, IGMC, Radisson Hotel, Jhansi Park, Sher-e-Punjab, and the Lower Bazaar area. SDM (Urban) Oshin Sharma has been given charge of this sector, assisted by Tehsildar (Urban) Narayan Singh Verma.
Sector 3: Includes Police Station East and the New Shimla area. Tehsildar (Shimla Rural) Sanjeev Gupta has been assigned charge of this sector.
Sector 4: Includes Fun World, Galu, Lambidhar, Fagu, Sanjauli, Dhalli, Kufri, Mashobra, Chharabra, Chini Bangla, and surrounding areas. SDM (Shimla Rural) Manjit Sharma has been assigned charge of this sector.
Sector 5: Includes all traffic points, 103 Tunnel, ISBT Tutikandi, Old Barrier and Chakkar areas. Naib Tehsildar (Shimla Rural) Chand Ram has been assigned charge of this sector.
