Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla safely returned to Earth on Tuesday after completing the 18-day mission on the International Space Station (ISS). He received an emotional homecoming as he returned to Earth after spending 18 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Several prominent personalities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, congratulated Shuka for the historic space mission. Earlier on Monday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) officials stated that his return is a major milestone for India's ambitious Gaganyaan manned spaceflight program. While the whole of India waits for his homecoming, here are the next steps for the astronaut:

10 days of quarantine

Shubhanshu Shukla and the other crew members will travel to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, where they will undergo a medical checkup. The team will also be kept under at least 10 days of quarantine in the space center. A special medical team will also check Shukla's and the other team members bone density, reflexes, balance, immune response, and mental well-being.

Mission Debrief in the US

Shukla will share his experiences and insights of the mission after completing the quarantine period. During the 18-day time period, more than 60 experiments were conducted aboard the ISS. The insights on these subjects are likely to significantly contribute tofuture projects.

Homecoming

Shubhanshu Shukla is likely to return to India around August 17, reported News18, citing the sources. Apart from his family members, the whole country is waiting to welcome the astronaut who successfully completed the space mission.

Public Engagement

Shukla is likely to receive formal recognition from ISRO, the Indian Air Force, and the other government offices. He is also likely to visit top universities and share his valuable insights about the space mission.
