In a fresh turn of events in a death case of a six-month-old infant, after a month of last rites following the death while being breastfed, police now prepare to exhume the body for a fresh post-mortem. The body is expected to be exhumed today, on Friday, after the father alleged that the infant may not have died of natural causes, but could have been killed.

The incident took place in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, where a child was believed to have died while being breastfed earlier this month. The police have registered a case of unnatural death, and they police did not carry out a post-mortem. The child was later buried on the family's agricultural land.

Father alerted authorities after uncovering explicit messages, photos, and videos that revealed the illicit relationship between his wife and another woman. He has since informed investigators of his growing suspicion that the infant may have been harmed amid pressure surrounding the affair.

What Police Say

According to a senior police investigator in the case, the main purpose of the police is to establish the cause of death first, then to move forward, NDTV reported.

"We want to first confirm if the baby was murdered. If yes, the law will take its course. Otherwise, we have nothing to do with their relationship," the officer said. "Initially, a case of unnatural death was registered and the police did not perform a post-mortem," he added.
