Tamil Nadu Road Accident: In a tragic road accident in Tamil Nadu's Madurai district, four people of the same family died, and three others got severely injured after being hit by an overspeeding car while crossing the road in Kunjampatti near Usilampatti in the district. While providing details, Madurai SP Arvind stated that these people were hit by a car while crossing the road, adding that the injured people are being treated at a nearby hospital.
Earlier on May 22, a government bus and a private vehicle collided near Sengkipatti Bridge on the Thanjavur-Tiruchirapalli National Highway on Thursday morning. The officials stated that five people died in the accident, adding that the injured people are being treated in the nearby hospital. Thanjavur District Collector Priyanka Balasubramanian stated that the accident created panic among the locals, adding that the exact reason behind the accident is not known yet.
Apart from this, in another accident in Sivaganga district on May 20, five workers lost their lives while one was left seriously injured in a rockslide at a stone quarry operated by Mega Blue Metal in Mallakottai near SS Kottai. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and extended his condolences to the families of the deceased.
In an official statement, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Office said, "Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and relatives of the deceased. He also announced financial aid of Rs. 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured worker from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund."
