Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to moderate rain for the next few days. The weather department clarified that the other regions are expected to witness dry weather conditions. The continuous rain in the coastal regions will lead to waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences to the locals. Apart from this, the temperature in these regions is also likely to drop by two to three degrees in the upcoming days.
While providing details, the weather department stated that along with the rainfall, the coastal regions are also expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. It asserted that several districts, including Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari are likely to witness rain till February 2.
The continuous rainfall is likely to drop the temperature and lead to waterlogging in the key parts of these districts. However, the IMD stated that the other parts will continue to witness cold wave and fog, especially in the early hours, leading to inconveniences to the commuters. It further stated that the temperature is likely to gradually increase from the first week of February.
The residents of the capital city Chennai and other nearby cities are also set to witness cloudy skies and occasional rain in the upcoming days. Along with rain, the residents are also likely to experience gentle breeze and a drop in temperature. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 30 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 22 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has advised the fishermen of the coastal regions to follow the guidelines and maintain a distance from the water bodies for the next few days to avoid any inconveniences.
