Tamil Nadu Weather News: Tamil Nadu Weather Today: With the formation of a new low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Tamil Nadu, forecasting heavy rainfall in 10 districts. As per the weather department, even minor shifts in this genesis point can lead to significant changes to the eventual track.
Tamil Nadu Rain Today: Heavy Rain In 10 Districts
The weather in Tamil Nadu has been rainy for the past few days and is expected to remain similar, with heavy rain anticipated for 10 districts.
In its latest weather report, the IMD said that due to the prevailing atmospheric circulation over the South Andaman Sea and adjacent areas, a new low-pressure area is likely to form in the southeastern Bay of Bengal tomorrow (Saturday), which is expected to move in a west-northwesterly direction and strengthen into a low-pressure area on the 24th (Monday).
In particular, there is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in the 10 districts of Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Nellai, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Thiruvarur today, as well as in the Karaikal areas.
Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast: Rainfall Regardless Of Cyclone
- The weather department clarified that Tamil Nadu will most likely experience rain regardless of the cyclone's final strength, as moist easterlies and an Upper Air Circulation will ensure rainfall across the state.
- Heavy rainfall is expected over Southern Tamil Nadu, especially the Manjolai Ghats, while Chennai and North TN may see moderate rain with occasional intense spells.
- Widespread rainfall is likely to continue the whole week, till 25th November
- On Tuesday, 25th, light to moderate rain is likely at many places in coastal Tamil Nadu, a few places in interior Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas. Heavy rain is likely at one or two places in Puducherry, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram districts and at Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
Chennai Weather Update
"For Chennai, the sky will be partly cloudy today. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in a few parts of the city. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 30- 31° Celsius, and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 23-24° Celsius," the weather centre said.
