UER 2 Inaugurated: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated Urban Extension Road (UER-2) to provide a significant boost the regional connectivity in Delhi-NCR. The third ring road of the national capital will cut the travel time between Noida and IGI Airport to just 20 minutes from 2 hours. The extension road is also likely to cut the travel time between outer regions of the national capital, including Mundka, Rohini, and Narela to the key areas of the city. The ring road is also expected to cut the travel time for the commuters travelling to the nearby states, including Punjab and Haryana due to its linkage with several key highways and expressways, including the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway and the Dwarka Expressway.

UER-2 to boost the regional connetivity

- Project is developed in five packages at a cost of Rs 6,445 crore

- While the 54.21 km of ring road is in Delhi, 21.50 km is built in Haryana

- Commuters from Delhi-NCR will be able to reach NH-44 without facing congestion at Delhi's ring roads

- Additional 65 kilometers highway from Tronica City to the under-construction FNG Expressway has already been approved

- Commuters from Rajasthan and Haryana will not face Delhi's traffic while travelling to Dehradun

- The ring road starts from Alipur on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway and runs through several regions of the national capital, including Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh, and Dwarka, before joining the Dwarka Expressway.

- It connects to Mahipalpur after joining the Dwarka Expressway and links up with the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, providing direct access to the airport.

- The link road will connect industrial areas of Bawana and Narela in Delhi and Sonipat and Bahadurgarh in Haryana, which will provide a significant boost to the financial activities in Delhi-NCR.

- The ring road will provide relief to the residents of outer Delhi regions, including Kanjhawala, Mubarakpur, Bawana, Narela, Mundka, Rohini, Samaypur Badli, and Kiradi. Apart from this, it will also improve the connectivity to the DDA flats built in Narela and Bawana.
