UP Heatwave Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for severe heatwave conditions in 11 districts of Uttar Pradesh for the next two days. In its advisory, the weather department stated that the temperature is expected to increase by two to three degrees Celsius in the upcoming days. Earlier on Tuesday, Banda remained the hottest city in the country for the third consecutive day. The weather department has advised the residents to stay updated and limit their outings.

While providing details, the IMD stated that several districts, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, and Jhansi, will witness a severe heatwave for the next two days. The temperature in these districts is likely to be calculated at above 45 degrees Celsius, leading to inconvenience to the residents.

The maximum temperature in Banda was calculated at 48.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, 4.7 degrees above normal. Along with these districts, a heatwave alert has also been issued for other districts, such as Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Chandauli, Varanasi, Ballia, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur City, Rae Bareli, Auraiya, and Lalitpur.

The residents of these regions are not likely to get relief temporarily, as there is no rain prediction at least for a week. "Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail during the day in many parts of the southern part of the state and in some parts of the rest of the region," Mohammad Danish, senior scientist at the Meteorological Centre, was quoted as saying by the news agency UNI.

The weather department also stated that most of the districts will witness strong surface winds at speeds of 20 to 40 kilometers per hour. It further stated that the temperature is likely to stay above normal in the night hours too for the next 48 hours. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines to avoid inconveniences.
