Jagran Correspondent, Varanasi: Monsoon has once again stalled on the eastern side of Uttar Pradesh with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a three-day heatwave alert in Purvanchal, warning of continued heat and humidity.
Conditions have become favourable for the arrival of the monsoon in Purvanchal, including Varanasi, but the Meteorological Department has forecast its arrival on June 28, after a week's delay.
As per IMD, as a result of sporadic weather activity in the state, Banda and Prayagraj were among the hottest cities in the country on Thursday. Banda, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Kheri Lakhimpur, Ballia and Bahraich of eastern Uttar Pradesh were in the grip of heatwave. Due to the absence of weather activity, there has been a slight increase in the temperature, due to which heatwave conditions are likely to continue in some places of eastern Uttar Pradesh till June 27.
Monsoon To Hit UP On June 28
According to IMD, a new round of rainfall is expected to begin in the state on June 28. Additionally, the southwest monsoon is expected to reach the state within the next 2-3 days. Conditions will become favourable for the monsoon's advance into Uttar Pradesh within the next 2-3 days.

The state is currently experiencing rising temperatures and humid heat. Weather experts believe this situation is due to a lack of seasonal activity. However, the arrival of the monsoon in the coming days is expected to bring relief.
Banda, Prayagraj Reach 44 Degrees
A day ago, temperatures in Banda and Prayagraj reached around 44 degrees Celsius, causing severe heat stress. People are finding it difficult to carry out their daily activities.
Health experts have advised people to take precautions during this summer heat. They are advised to drink plenty of water, eat light meals, and avoid sun exposure. Children and the elderly need special attention, as they can be more vulnerable to the heat.
IMD has also stated that with the arrival of the monsoon, rainfall activity will intensify in the state. This will not only bring down temperatures but also boost agricultural activities.
